INFO ABOUT THE PLANT Joint-Stock Company Yerevan Vitamin Plant is involved in the synthesis of vitamins, preparations on their basis, biologically active substances, food additives and medicinal preparations. The plant is one of the largest enterprises, occupying the territory of 20 hectares; with 38.000 m2 of industrial premises. There are 3 industrial departments, administration office, industrial laboratory, 3-floor building sized 24x120 m2, not completed compressor-building, 3 storehouses, store volatile substances and solvents, branch-line, garage workshops, boiler-house. The plant is equipped with high-quality reactors of enamel, stainless steel and titan. There are many large reactors, distillation equipment and other hardware for new chemical synthesis. This comprises 2 rectification columns for acetone distillation, plant for grain fermentation, distillation of the fermentation broth and rectification of ethyl spirit. The complex offers a unit for purification of sewage treatment and a special plant for combustion of liquid and solid waste. The plant’s staff comprises highly trained specialists, with vast scientific and industrial experience. Patents protect a number of technological processes for the production of vitamins, whose authors work at the plant. The Chairman of the Board - General manager is doctor in biological science, and professor, corresponding member of Russian Academy of agriculture science Avakiants Sergei. There is chemical scientist and many engineers with extensive (10-20 years) industrial experience. The company collaborates with many scientific institutions in Armenia, Russia and European countries. The plant produces high-quality vitamins: C - ascorbic acid, E-alpha-tocopherol acetate and D3 -cholecalcipherol and also preparations on their basis. Vitamins C and E, preparation Ammivit and Natvit are used in medical applications as well as in pharmaceutical and food industries and cosmetics. The product Natvit, originating from the best Armenian grapes and yeast, contains 12 vitamins of group B, vitamin C, 18 amino acids, 12 microelements, enzymes, natural antyoxydants and 4 mineral substances. Vitamin D3 is a highly effective vitamin with anti-rickets action in animals and birds, and the preparation Bentovit E20 - powder-like 20% vitamin E, is produced for agricultural applications. The plant became joint-stock company in February of 1998. Since 1998 the new management arranged the reconstruction of production units, created production processes that will promote international relations, and market studies. The Vitamin D3 department has developed powder technology and tested in Institute of Veterinary Medicine and poultry factories. The vitamin D3 powder was successfully tested in the BioVetFarm Council and was registered in Russian Federation in 1999. It involved the industrial production of powder vitamin D3, AED3 powder vitamin complex, and AED3 complex. Powder vitamin D3 is now a commercial product. In 1999 Yerevan Vitamin Plant collaborating with French company Rhone-Poulenc (now – Aventis amd Adisseo) launched the production of polyvitamin and mineral mix Multivit for poultry farming and animal husbandry. The supporting scientific documentation of the complex was carried out in the Institute of Veterinary Medicine. The normative-technique documentation for production was maintained. The industrial production section was created. Industrial output was started. The technology and composition for trout were developed. The state test of the fish fodder was carried out by commission of Armenian Agricultural Ministry. The fish fodder was recommended for manufacture. The development of the fodder production was created. The different fodder compositions for cows, pigs and the others domestic animals and birds were approved. The normative technical documentation for manufacture the liophylized preparation of lacto- and biphidobacteries “Narine” was approved in the Pharmaceutical Committee of Health Services of Ministry Republic of Armenia. Probiotic Narine was permitted for administration by the institute of Nutrition in the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, approved by the World Organization of Health. Narine is used for prophylaxis and treatment of stomachal and intestinal human and animal diseases. We worked up the technology of Vitamin C from ket—gulonic acid. We are developing the scientific efforts to principal new technology of vitamin C from momo and disaccharides. We worhed up the technology of bioethanol from the wastes of food industry. We have got the samples of bioethanol that increase the octane index in gasoline. We are carrying the experiences to synthese the biodiesel on the base of plant raw material. Vitamin E synthesis technology is developing. We are working at new method of provitamin D3 irradiation
